It is my wish that everyone has a blessed Christmas and focuses on the reason for the season.
I got an early Christmas present at the American Thinker, American Thinker , in it, Selwyn Duke, challenges the notion that Jesus was made up from the Indo-Iranian god Mithras and the Roman god Sol. And people often seem to confuse these two deities and their festivals, mixing and matching them in a game of musical myths. But it doesn't really matter because both Mithras' and Sol's mythical births, we're told, occurred on the same day: December 25th. The substitute priest at our parish even brought this up during his sermon (Lord, please heal our pastor, Fr. Lee!)
Also, the Christmasphobes make a fairly common mistake: They take "pagan" as synonymous with "evil." If you're trying to make Christianity look bad, equating it with paganism while implying the paganism is evil just makes paganism look bad.
This is a good article well worth the time reading.
Also, The Catholic Caveman had an awesome post about the fact that "God isn't sending His blessings to everyone. Only to "men of goodwill". And as common sense tells us, "men of goodwill" are those who have found favor with God. NOT everyone." it's worth checking out!
Again, Merry Christmas to all...
SPECIAL Christmas HAT, er, HELMET TIP to the The Catholic Caveman !
I know what the Church teaches & know how I don't measure up! And none of the bovine scatology about the Church having to change, either!
It seems to me that the leadership of the Catholic Church in America over the better part of the last fifty years has been at best embarrassed about the Faith or at worst antagonistic about the Faith. God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy!

Sancte Michael Archangele,
contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium.
Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur:
tuque, Princeps militiae Caelestis,
satanam aliosque spiritus malignos,
qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo,
divina virtute in infernum detrude.
Amen.

I held off on this for too long...
...but this guy has it spot on:
It was an early Christmas present to see the Global Warmers get caught in their lies. Too bad they can't face the truth, so we can move on. Of course, saving the planet was NEVER their goal - it was always about CONTROL!

"And People Wonder...
"And people wonder why I drink beer..." I said to the Lieutenants.
"Bill, why do you drink beer?", asked Megen, the youngest.
"Because I don't have ANY whiskey!!", I replied.
"Bill, why would you drink whiskey?", Megen continued.
"Because people are crazy!"

Those who don't learn from history are condemned to repeat it....
What we learn from history is...
that we learn nothing from history!
I was stuck in Oklahoma City when this happened. I also remember the COWARDICE shown by many in the weeks afterward.
Réquiem ætérnam dona ei (eis) Dómine; et lux perpétua lúceat ei (eis). Requiéscat (Requiéscant) in pace. Amen.
Those who caused this dishonored their Prophet. May they rue their actions and support for the next trillion millinia.

Bosch: For all Americans, every day is Groundhog Day.
For our servicemembers in uniform, they wake up, and every day is September 12, 2001.
For most everyone else, they wake up, and every day is September 10, 2001.
See what a difference two days make?

Hard Sayings
This Sunday is one of those that have readings that bristle most people.
First Joshua makes a very bold statement, "...And if you be unwilling to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." All of the Israelites answer by saying "yeah bro, we're going to do that too.."
The Paul tells the Ephesians, "... Wives, be subject to your husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. As the church is subject to Christ, so let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. Even so husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no man ever hates his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body..."
I can JUST hear all the women in church bristle at "...Wives, be subject to your husbands...let wives also be subject in everything to their husbands..." They don't hear "...Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her..." I think the call is clear that husbands have to do everything (including giving up one's life) for thier wives. Unfortunately, that means nothing in this world.
Then as Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also wish to go away?"
Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God."

To honor those who serve...
A thought I had at Mass this morning...
I get accused of being "holier than thou" even though my faults are numerous & public. All I can say is that I have to to at least make the attempt to folow the Lord. They wouldn't REALLY want me to act as if there were no God. I'm WAY WAY TOO MUCH like St. Louie De Montforte.
Happy Flag Day!
I'm not a real baseball fan nor am I a Cubs fan. But this guy IS a class act.
One of my eldest son's buddies who was wounded in the Nov 2004 assualt on Falujah, according to his mom, would go out of his way to unwrap flags wrapped around their pole or replace worn ones.

Awesome Quote
"No one ever has a right to the Eucharist, and the vanity or hurt feelings of an individual Catholic ...does not take priority over the faith of the believing community," - Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver
